Prior to our week 1 readings and video, I began thinking about Enterprise Architecture and what the two words meant separately. An enterprise is a company or a business and architecture is the constructing of business. Therefore, enterprise architecture possibly means a business and the planing on how it’s created, internally and externally. According to our reading, “Enterprise Architecture is a management and technology practice that is devoted to improving the performance of enterprises by enabling them to see themselves in terms of a holistic and integrated view of their strategic direction, business practices, information flows and technology resources.” (Bernard, 2012)
Currently, enterprise architecture in our elementary school is the plan to transition from our present state to the future. Based on recent data, we know that we need to focus our attention on English language arts in the area of reading. Many of our students are reading below grade level, the goal is to analyze our current processes, developing/professional development, creating common assessments among grade levels to ensure we have reliable data, and current reading programs (technology) we have in place. We have begun to analyze the reading programs that are working, which are not, any modifications needed and/or any new programs we can invest in based on research.
My desire is to gain more knowledge in gathering and analyzing data to ensure my teaching is aligned with the needs of my students and as a future leader, my decisions are based on updated/reliable data.
